Modern cruise ships are propelled by electric motors called azipods that are attached to the bottom for the ship. These electric motors get their power from massive diesel engines in the ship which generate enough power for the azipods and the entire ship. So they do not store it they continuously generate it all of the time.

Electricity was and is generated, regardless of what engines are used.

There is plenty of electricity and hot water - all by products of the ship’s engines. Water and fuel oil are stored of course - and all the lovely food.
