The government originally planned to require anyone cruising to have a passport starting January 2008. This may get pushed back again. Still, its a good idea to get them before you need them as people are now waiting up to 15 weeks before getting the passport.

The office wait in 2008 to have passport it will take atleast few months if you do need one if you are going anywhere else.
